IITK…could I get luckier?
I never thought I would be here in one of the premier institutes of the country. I was swept off my feet when I released that I had actually got a job at IITK and couldn’t believe it until I got here. It has been 4 days since I am at
Kanpur inside the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology. I feel a certain sense of pride when I ever I take the name of the institute. I have made quite a few friends here; most of them have been introduced by my already best friend who is as of now working in Banglore. I wish he were here to see how happy I am. I was a little bored for the first two days, but now I find myself quite occupied with work. Today was the first day in office, and I am glad to say I truly worked. I read a few research papers and utilized as much time as I could in learning the technology as much as I could. I have quite planned my day for tomorrow as well. It’s a wonderful feeling that I am staying here at the IIT. I went over to a place called Bithoor where I happed to see the river
Ganga. It isn’t quite neat, but I was amazed at the history the place has got. I even saw a small tunnel which was apparently used by Rani Laxmibai of
Jhansi as an escape route. It was truly marvelous. I also went to the Valmiki ashram nearby which also has quite a lot of historical as well as mythological significance. I hope to visit the places again soon.
There is one thing that is amazing about IIT is that there is an urge to learn. Every student, every professor, every employee is here with a certain purpose and all of them do their work with utter devotion. I hope that I learn things in their company and try to gain as much knowledge as I can. I thank god for giving me this wonderful experience and to be a part of IIT Kanpur.
